Often when home owners need to get a electrical renovation done they lack the know-how of the ‘right’ questions to ask electrical contractors. well, here is a quick list of 4 major questions you need to electricians before making a hiring decision.

Do you have an ESA contractors licence? (and ask to see it) ESA stands for the “Electrical Safety Authority”. All licensed electricians in Ontario should belong to this Assosciation. It helps electrical contractors stay up to date on new Ontario Electrical Safety Codes. If fact, All electrical work requires a Certificate of Inspection from the Electrical Safety Authority in Ontario.

How long have you been in business? This question is often over-looked. I know for a fact after being involved in home renovations and being a licensed contractor for over 30 years, that I bring a lot more to the table. Experience is very important when having electrical work done.

Can you give me a written estimate of the cost of the job? never ever except a verbal estimate. It’s the contractors word against yours and any electrical contractor who has enough experience should be able to give you a written estimate of expected costs associated with your electrical renovation. Not only that, but you want to make sure the estimate gives very specific details as to to the work to be completed. Make sure you are 100% clear on the work that needs to be completed.

What are the payment arrangements? Never ever pay for a job upfront. Any electrical contractor requesting, just say, “thanks, but no thanks” and run the other way. Now what is standard by most electrical contractors is a deposit and depending on how large the renovation is you may need to break payments into sections as each step is completed. Again deposits are fine, but never pay the total cost until the job has been satisfactorily completed.

If you follow the above steps while searching for a electrical contractor, then you should be able to make a very educated decision on which electrician is best for your reno.

People who hire my Ottawa Electrical Contracting Company usually feel that professionalism goes a lot further than cheap pricing. I am not the cheapest and I am not the most expensive. However, I do stand 100% behind my work. Much of my business comes from referrals and I think that says something about my services.

I have a saying that I use all the time:

Professional workmanship lasts years longer than the sweetness of the lowest price.

Too many times I had to repair or redo other contractors work.

The fact is: I am more interested in educating you then trying to make a “fast buck”. I believe that once you are fully educated on all the ‘pros and cons’, we can decide together on the best decisions for your home improvement project needs.

Making sure you have the best electrical contractor with the lowest possible rates for your home improvement project can be difficult to figure out and it is a major commitment. I don’t want you to regret your decision two weeks or five years down the road, so I will work with you to insure that you are totally satisfied.

My Guarantee’s are:

Treat you with integrity – No Hidden Fees.

No-obligation estimates.

All work 100% guaranteed!

Show up for appointments as scheduled.

You bring me your needs and your budget and we will offer a fair & competitive estimate. We don’t just want you to hire us, we want you to hire us and then refer us!

Special Note: Small home improvement electrical projects are my specialty and they often do not require an estimate, if you would like one then feel free to call me or email me (email preferred) and I will give you an estimate over the phone based on a similar job I have completed in the past. For larger projects I will gladly meet with you to understand your home improvement project & will gladly provide a no obligation estimate.

Get a free no obligation estimate today!
